What is a Combo? A musical combo is a group of two or more musicians who perform instrumental or vocal music. In each musical style or genre, different norms have developed for the sizes and composition of combos or ensembles, and for the repertoire of songs or musical works that these ensembles perform. Larger combos, like Bill Hicks & Combo Nostalgia, have long been a part of music in part due to the influence of the 'singer accompanied with orchestra' model inherited from popular big-band jazz and swing, and popularized by Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Some bands have six to eight pieces, including vocals, guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, a trumpet, saxophone, and trombone. Other configurations occur depending on the genre of music performed.

Bill Hicks is the former lead trumpeter of the Harry James Orchestra. Now, as the leader of Bill Hicks & Combo Nostalgia, a seven-piece group with a wide-ranging repertoire from big band to contemporary, Hicks hires only the top professional musicians from the central Pennsylvania area.

Bill Hicks & Combo Nostalgia has the same versatility of Big Band Nostalgia but is better suited for smaller rooms or parties. With Bill Hicks & Combo Nostalgia, you can still customize the repertoire for your special event, just as with Big Band Nostalgia, to create a certain mood or emphasize a theme.

From big band favorites to pop songs and Dixieland, Bill Hicks & Combo Nostalgia will delight your guests. Light jazz, standards, and show tunes are also available to enhance your function. Bill can also provide you with a solo piano or trio for your cocktail hour, followed with Bill Hicks & Combo Nostalgia or Big Band Nostalgia after dinner.
