ABOUT BILL HICKS:
Bill Hicks is a veteran professional trumpet player who has entertained crowds from coast to coast.. From 1976-79,
he was the lead trumpeter for the Harry James Orchestra. He toured the country with the James band and appeared
on national TV shows, such as a John Denver Special and the Merv Griffin Show. He has performed with a host of
Big Bands ranging from Bob Crosby to Lee Castle and the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra.
Today in central Pennsylvania, Bill Hicks owns Big Band Nostalgia Productions, which includes Big Band Nostalgia, and also Combo Nostalgia and The Bill Hicks Brass. His big band performs at locations such as The Hotel Hershey, Hershey Lodge and Convention Center, Nissley Vineyards and the Hershey Country Club. Bill is also a member of the American Music Theatre Orchestra in Lancaster, Pa.
Bill Hicks trumpet has backed up groups ranging from the Temptations and Four Tops to Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra.
For 17 years while living in the Los Angeles area, Bill Hicks studied trumpet with the "King of Brass" Claude Gordon, the former top trumpeter with CBS Orchestra.
Bill Hicks was first chair in the 72nd U.S. Army Concert and Marching Bands and lead trumpet in the dance band at Ft. McArthur from 1970-73.
